Gypsy or Geek romance?

When I was doing my GCSEs, back in the eons of time, I went through a phrase of reading ‘grown up’ classics. One of those was the Hunchback of Notre Dame and the image of Esmerelda and the romantic gypsy has stayed with me ever since. So when this pairing of a slightly baggy jumper and blood red maxi screamed gypsy at me I found the background of my wonderful books to be the perfect one. The swishy sleekness of the dress dressed up my (well-loved) jumper, whose baggy shape actually gave me a waist. Totally relaxed yet elegant… perfect!

However, being the child of mixed social classes that I am, I found myself wanting to dress up the outfit in some way. Not normally the type to go for matching earrings and necklace, I found that on this occasion the creamy loveliness of my matching pearls  was just the ticket for up the elegant factor. And why not up the elegance when your necklace only cost 10p. Low-cost elegance makes room in my purse for high-cost fun… now that sounds like a good idea to me.
