|This photo took so many attempts. This was genuinely the best one, despite cutting my head.|
Oh my days! You know when you have one of those days where you wish you could rewind it back to the moment you step out of bed? So I had one of those today. To be honest, I’d be quite happy to rewind it all the way back to yesterday so I could go through Bristol Fashion Week all over again. It was just so much fun but that’s for another post and another time.
We are five weeks in to the challenge (only one week left! Can’t wait for some colour!) and I wanted to get creative for my day at fashion week. So I wore a scarf. As a skirt… Just let that sink in… I have to admit that it was basically a wrap around skirt or sarong secured with a belt. I love how the red stands out amidst all the black and the quirkiness of the asymmetric layers, which might have been the result of my bad wrapping skills. I did spend most of the day scared that I would end up flashing the majority of Cribbs Causeway because my scarf skirt had fallen off.
I have to admit that it was a real relief to not be wearing jeans or one of my two skirts. I appreciate my wardrobe more than ever after the last five weeks and I cannot wait to add a little more colour into my life again. However, though I will probably keep buying from the high street, I am so much more aware of the consequences our love of fashion has. I loved charity shops anyway but I’m definitely going to look into the second hand retail scene. Individuality is a happy price to pay if it means I can shop more ethically.
How about you? Are you still dedicated to the high street 100% or are you willing to mix it up a little bit more in the name of fairtrade and ethical shopping? Let me know in the comments below.
